- A new series of compilations looks back on Steve Barnes' most prolific guise.
Over the next few months, Traum will compile UK producer Steve Barnes's work under the name Process in a series of three compilations.
Barnes has been putting out records since the early '90s under a variety of pseudonyms, including Blueshift and later Cosmic Sandwich (a project with German producer Riley Reinhold). But the bulk of his work was as Process, a project that was released mostly on Cologne-based label Traum Schallplatten. Drawing from influences like Monolake, Pole and Moritz von Oswald's records as Maurizio, Barnes forged a slick and atmospheric techno sound with the occasional electro tinge. Between 2000 and 2004, Traum released two albums and a series of 12-inches by Process, much of which is collected on these three compilations. Simply entitled Electronic 1-3, the CDs chart Process's evolving sound over time.
