  • Landsberger Allee venue The Villa will close for good as of this weekend. The club's closure has been an ongoing issue for the team behind Villa, and it now seems that property developers who own the site have finally won out. While it would be disingenuous to place Villa among the city's more famed venues, the place certainly had its admirers thanks to a mixed music policy and relaxed, house party vibe. In order to honour its final days in operation, Villa will remain open from this Friday 21st at 11pm until sometime around midnight on Sunday 23rd. The music over the three days reflects Villa's party-friendly approach to programming, enlisting largely local DJs for the session but also a few international names. So among the dozens of acts scheduled to play across the weekend, Friday will see appearances from Benno Blome, Cotumo and Oliver $, while Metope and Basteroid from Areal will both play live; Saturday will be the turn of Greco Roman's Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Full Nelson, Tricus & Gold and Meggy; and Sunday's finale includes sets from Bar 25 residents Jake the Rapper, Beaner and Mutlu, in addition to District of Corruption men Aaron Hedges and Walker Barnard.
