  • Mountains will release a new album called Air Museum this spring on Thrill Jockey. Made up of Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp, Mountains are a Brooklyn-based duo who specialize in droning ambient music with an organic touch. They got their start on Apestaartje, a Chicago label and artist collective they co-founded in the early '00s, then made their debut on Thrill Jockey two years ago with Choral. Air Museum shows them continuing to develop their electro-acoustic style. Though the end result sounds mostly electronic, it was performed on accordion, cello, guitar, piano, bass and medley of other live instruments, all filtered through an array of pedals and modular synths. It was mostly composed during December and January of last year at Telescope Recordings in New York, making it the first Mountains album to come out of a proper studio. Tracklist 01. January 17 02. Thousand Square 03. Newsprint 04. Sequel 05. Blue Lanterns on East Oxford 06. Backwards Crossover 07. Live at the Triple Door Thrill Jockey will release Air Museum on May 10th, 2011.
