  • Following this month's catastrophes in Japan, Red Bull Music Academy have decided to relocate their next workshop series, originally scheduled to take place in Tokyo this fall. RBMA announced the change of plans in a statement sent out yesterday. "Throughout the last few months of preparation for the Tokyo Academy, we have gotten to know Japan as a country; its immensely rich spirit, the beauty, some of the traditions and innovative energy," it said. "We will continue to maintain strong links with the musical and creative scene in the country, and hope to bring the full Academy experience to Japan in the not too distant future." The dates for the series (October 23rd through November 25th) will remain the same, and a new location will be confirmed on Monday, April 11th. Subsequently, the application period for this year's academy has been extended to April 26th. As previously reported, the RBMA sponsored SonarSound Tokyo will go ahead as planned this weekend, though Modeselektor have canceled their appearance there. In their place, Karl Hyde and Darren Price (aka Underworld) will DJ.
