  • Richie Hawtin will perform live as Plastikman at the Mutek festival in June. Hawtin's name is often associated with Detroit or Berlin, but his roots are in Windsor, Canada, making his his appearance at the Montreal festival especially appropriate. Though he delivered a one-off performance as Plastikman at Mutek in 2004, the upcoming gig marks the Canadian debut of his current live routine, which was conceived last year and made a splash at big festivals around the world. Based on new renditions of tracks from Plastikman's four classic albums, the performance features eye-popping visuals by Hawtin's frequent partner in crime, the video artist Ali Demirel. Further additions to the bill include ARP, Badawi and electronic dub artist Pole. A smattering of Canadian acts have been confirmed as well, such as Arthur Oskan and Komodo. As previously announced, the festival will take place at venues around Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles.
