  • Fans of New York day parties, rejoice: the outdoor space at 400 Caroll Street in Brooklyn has been reborn as Gowanus Grove and will be home to Mister Sunday, a new series of daytime parties throughout the summer that launches next month. Gowanus Grove might be more easily remembered as BKLYN Yard, the canal-side home to the popular Sunday Best events which, in three summers of operation, hosted the likes of Michael Mayer, Omar-S and Metro Area before the venue abruptly closed last summer. A new name is in place now but a few familiar faces will be back at the helm for this year: Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin, the minds behind Mister Saturday Night and former resident DJs at Sunday Best, will take to the decks every Sunday afternoon for the appropriately titled Mister Sunday series. Former attendees will be happy to know that both food and alcohol will be served from a team of local vendors, and children and dogs will still be allowed. The party will also feature the occasional special guest, with UK producer Four Tet launching the first party on Memorial Day weekend next month. Other guests for the summer include Moodymann, Optimo, Todd Terje and Space Dimension Controller, though dates for those acts have yet to be confirmed.
