  • Berlin-based artist Scuba will touch down in the U.S. later this month for select dates across the country, starting Thursday, May 19th in Chicago. A UK native, Paul Rose is the mind behind Hotflush Recordings, the dubstep imprint that has become one of the most respected labels on the scene. He's also carved his own reputation as Scuba and SCB, pushing a bass-heavy sound that sits somewhere between dubstep and techno, and has proven himself a deft producer via a number of 12" releases and two long-players. Now based in Berlin, Rose last year curated the Sub:Stance mix CD on Ostgut Ton, and he hosts the regular party of the same name at Berghain, the label's home-base. Three of Rose's stateside bookings occur on the long weekend before Movement. The tour starts with his debut Chicago appearance as Scuba at Smart Bar, a Thursday night party celebrating the local Subfix crew's three-year anniversary. That Friday will see Rose jetting to San Francisco to perform as SCB vs. Scuba; the Public Works party will also feature fellow bass producer Martyn along with deep house live artist Deniz Kurtel. The following Saturday, Scuba takes over the decks at Seattle's Baltic Room before the trip concludes in Detroit, where he's been tapped to play a set as Scuba at Movement.
