  • Simian Mobile Disco will return to the US this weekend for two gigs in California. James Ford and James Shaw have been producing music as Simian Mobile Disco since 2004, but as of late the pop-inflected electro of their earlier years has given way to more clubby techno tracks. 2010 saw the two artists create a new label, Delicacies, which drew inspiration (and track names) from gourmet foods around the world. The resulting 2-CD compilation was supported by a live tour of North America earlier this year, but like the duo's DJ sets in New York at the beginning of the month, this weekend's California events will see Simian Mobile Disco in action behind the decks. Friday, they'll go to San Francisco to headline a night at Public Works. Then on Saturday, the pair will head south to Los Angeles where they'll take over one room at the Making Shapes pool party with help from DFA disco jock Woolfy. RSVP to this all-night, "invite-only" party (location, TBA) for more details.
