  • Thomas Brinkmann has teamed up with Oren Ambarchi for an album called The Mortimer Trap. Each artist brings a different sensibility to the album. Brinkmann has always occupied the more experimental end of techno, playing around with double-armed turntables and carved vinyl. Ambarchi is more fully couched in the avant-garde, a guitar player and percussionist with numerous releases on the UK institution Touch. They teamed up at the beginning of this year while working with Mika Vainio in Japan. On The Mortimer Trap, the duo task themselves with constructing a "variation" of "For Bunita Marcus" by Morton Feldman, a late 20th century composer and contemporary of artists like John Cage and Steve Reich. The Mortimer Trap includes one 77-minute track. It will see release on Ambarchi's Black Truffle label, with album artwork by Brinkmann. Tracklist 01. The Mortimer Trap Black Truffle will release The Mortimer Trap on February 14th, 2012.
