Friction, Charlie Sloth and Toddla T have also been added, while Fabio & Grooverider, Kissy Sell Out and Judge Jules exit.
A group of veteran hosts will be leaving the station: Judge Jules, Kissy Sell Out, Fabio & Grooverider and Gilles Peterson. They'll make room for Toddla T, Charlie Sloth, Friction and Skream & Benga.
The two dubstep pioneers will host Friday nights from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM, after Annie Mac and Pete Tong, both of whom keep their current slots. Toddla T, a part of In New DJs We Trust since 2009, will now host his own show on Fridays from 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM. Friction will host a drum & bass show on Mondays, from 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM. Radio 1 have also announced the addition of a new program called BBC Radio 1 Residency, which will feature a rotating cast of DJs that includes Heidi, Chuckie and Kutski.
Aside from Kissy Sell Out, who joined Radio 1 in 2008, all of the exiting DJs have been with the station for more than a decade. Peterson said in a statement: "I've had an amazing 13 years at Radio 1—to be able to get away with the radical music that I've pushed out has always surprised me and I thank Radio 1 for giving me the freedom to do that." He's allegedly planning something with BBC Radio 6.
