  • Leading East Coast techno party The Bunker turns nine in Brooklyn on Friday, January 6th. Headed up by Beyond Booking, The Bunker has hosted hundreds of electronic artists from around the world since it began in 2002, many of whom made their US debut at the party. They also co-host the American arm of Poland's Unsound Festival and established a link with Berghain / Panorama Bar, bringing in resident DJs from the notorious Berlin club a few times per year. These days the party takes over the two rooms of Public Assembly every first Friday of the month, while smaller-scale Bunker Limited events (like the upcoming NYE party with Newworldaquarium and Mike Servito) occasionally take place in the venue's loft. For the anniversary party, Chicago house veteran Derrick Carter will take over the back room with help from Bunker resident Derek Plaslaiko, who promises an "out of the ordinary" performance from the two DJs. Meanwhile, the front room will showcase the sounds of Dutch imprint Clone Records, with Legowelt and Steve Summers playing live and Clone owner SergeDJing. Ron Morelli and Xosar, both of the local L.I.E.S. label, round out the night's bill.
