  • American experimental artist Dominick Fernow has set up a new label for his techno productions as Vatican Shadow, fittingly titled Bed of Nails. Fernow has had his hand in dozens of projects over the years, from the acclaimed indie band Cold Cave to solo outings with names like Tortured Hooker and Nuclear Pig Shit, though his most prolific guise to date is Prurient, a one-man noise band that's put out some 50 odd releases (many of them limited cassettes, CD-Rs and the like) since the late '90s. Two years ago he started releasing industrial-edged techno tracks as Vatican Shadow, mostly on cassette via his own label, Hospital Productions, some of which have already been compiled and reissued by Type Records and Blackest Ever Black. Bed of Nails will be a channel exclusively for this kind of material, beginning with September Cell, a foreboding techno EP with politically-charged track titles (like most of Vatican Shadow's work to date). September Cell will be available next month on vinyl only. Tracklist A1 September Cell (The Storm) A2 September Cell (The Punishment) B1 Cairo Is a Haunted City B2 One Day He Heard the Call Bed of Nails will release September Cell on June 18th, 2012.
