The Australian sound artist will have a new LP out on Editions Mego in August.
The Australian sound artist is best-known for his work (particularly with guitar) in the realms of noise, glitch, drone and ambient. Depending on how you classify the format, he's released at least 20 albums, on labels as varied as Touch, Staubgold and Rune Grammofon, and worked with artists like Jim O'Rourke, Keiji Heino and Thomas Brinkmann. Another common home of his, Editions Mego, will release his new one, Sagittarian Domain, which is his fifth album of the year but only second solo effort. Domain was recorded in a single studio session, according to a press release, and is a single, 33-minute-long track. It heavily features drum machines and rhythmic devices as opposed to Ambarchi's usual long, drone-based compositions. In addition to Ambarchi's array of guitars, synths and drums, the album also features string instruments like violin and cello.
