- The sixth annual edition of Varsity Allstars will take place at a TBA location in Chicago on Sunday, August 19th. DJs like Cassy, Lee Burridge and Three have all played at Varsity Allstars, an all-day party that has become one of the Windy City's favorite summer events over the past five years. The "MVP" headliner this time around is Midwestern native and minimal techno veteran Troy Pierce, who's been busy running the recently resurgent Items & Things label alongside Magda and Marc Houle (a 4xLP box set came out on the label a few weeks ago). Allstar team-mates Mike Khoury, Naveen G and Dory are also confirmed, and a growing list of local support so far includes Sassmouth, Tim Baker and Dela. The party's usual haunt, Moretti's, has been closed, and details for this year's location (which will once again have both indoor and outdoor areas) are still forthcoming.
