  • A new club called The Exchange has opened its doors in Bristol. Exchange comes from the people behind The Croft, the well-loved Stokes Croft spot that once housed parties like Pinch's Subloaded. The new venue inhabits a formerly abandoned space that was once a bar in Old Market, just east of the city centre. Holding up to 500 people and split across three floors, Exchange is geared as much towards live events as it is club nights. "The emphasis of this venue is the quality of music, whatever the genre," says booker Carly Heath. "We've tried to make sure it's not the standard 'I wanna put on a trendy house/bass night,' so across the month you'll get everything from metal to jungle to bashment, and every direction in between." The club's calendar has only one weekly event, Tuesday night's dubstep-oriented WBL. It opened this past weekend with a Lobster Boy night featuring Redlight and Oneman. Future events include So Bones with Jackmaster and Two Inch Punch on September 28th, and Subloaded's 8th birthday, with a lineup still TBA. Tickets for that one are available on RA.
