  • Geiom will release Black Screen on November 12th. Nottingham-based Kamal Joory has been making music as Geiom for over a decade now, while also working on other projects such as Hem and Mear. His music under this particular moniker has ranged from IDM-styled experiments through to more dance-friendly garage material, and the new album—his third overall and first since 2007's Island Noise—sees him exploring both sounds equally. Inspired by "the dying moments of a mobile phone," Black Screen focuses on unexpected and clashing sounds, partly due to the "ancient studio technology" he uses in his studio. The partially-mixed record comes via Cambridge's Frijsfo Beats rather than Joory's own Berkane Sol imprint. Beatless tracks from his more avant-garde Hem alias act as intermissions between the tempo changes. The LP touches on garage, drum & bass, dubstep and ambient, unlike the more straightforward dancefloor focus of his 2007 album. You can watch the video for the title track right here. Tracklist 01.
