  • Tim Sweeney will make his way back to Australia to play two gigs later this month. The New York DJ and long-term DFA affiliate is best known for his weekly Beats In Space radio show, broadcast on WNYU every Tuesday night, which celebrated its 13th birthday last month. Over the years the show has become a staple for visiting house and disco artists, as well as a number of Sweeney's New York brethren, with an extensive list of guests like DJ Harvey, Soul Clap and Morgan Geist all submitting exclusive mixes or appearing live in the studio. With the launch of Beats In Space Records back in 2011, Sweeney has continued to push the name (and his own) past its already cult status with popular parties and 12-inch releases. Sweeney is something of a regular in Australia: this will be his fifth tour in the country. The National Gallery of Victoria will be his first port of call on November 23rd, where he'll play a Melbourne Music Week event hosted by Cutters Records and Two Bright Lakes, also featuring NYC duo Teengirl Fantasy. On the 24th he heads to the Marrickville Recreation Centre in Sydney to make his third appearance at a HAHA Industries party. Tickets to the Sydney show can be purchased here on RA.
