  • Keith McMillen Instruments' next Kickstarter-funded product is a keyboard controller capable of interacting with devices via MIDI, control voltage, OSC and USB. QuNexus comes on the heels of QuNeo, a bank of velocity- and pressure-sensitive LED-lit pads for controlling all sorts of music applications. Their latest product brings a similar aesthetic to the compact keyboard controller market. QuNexus, however, departs from similar devices in its versatility: in addition to USB and MIDI connectivity, the keyboard has control voltage inputs and outputs, making it a controller for synthesizers old and new. The device is also compatible with OSC, a next-generation MIDI alternative, and can be used as a step sequencer as well as a traditional keyboard. Noting that the light-up keys also make it an ideal device for beginners, KMI has emphasized QuNexus' versatility in terms of its intended audience. Like QuNeo, all of QuNexus' pads transmit pressure, location and velocity information. When KMI pitched the QuNeo to Kickstarter, they ended up raising more than ten times their stated goal of $15,000. With more than a month to go on their latest fundraising drive, the company has already raised a little over the $20,000 target. You can watch KMI's pitch and contribute to the project on QuNexus' Kickstarter page.
