The app reconfigures the functionality of Native Instruments iPad DJ app for smaller touchscreens.
Native Instruments has unveiled a version of Traktor DJ for iPhone and iPod Touch.
The Berlin-based music technology company—best known for its Komplete plug-in series, its hardware/software groovebox Maschine and its Traktor line of laptop DJing products—released an iPad version of Traktor back in February. In his review, RA's Mark Strauss took a mostly positive stance, with special plaudits for its ability to prep tracks for use in Traktor Pro. Traktor DJ for iPhone and iPod Touch retains that functionality, plus all the other features from the iPad version—three-band EQ, Traktor effects, a track recommendation engine, compatibility with NI audio interfaces and a GUI that emphasizes waveform manipulation through touch. From the look of it, NI has just tweaked the latter for a smaller screen.
