The Sydney community station will host four fundraiser parties for their landmark birthday.
Sydney community radio station FBi 94.5 will celebrate its 10th birthday with four events over the next two months.
The station has been immersed in the Sydney and Australian independent music scene since it began broadcasting in 2003. Founded on a policy that 50 per cent of all music played on the air must be Australian, with half of that being sourced from Sydney, FBi has thrown its weight behind many local alternative artists over the past decade.
Each of the four fundraiser events will be curated by at least one Sydney promoter or label, covering a wide range of sounds and styles. The first, on June 14th, will be put together by local imprint Future Classic and touring/management outfit Astral People down at Goodgod Small Club. It will feature live performances from Panama, Cosmo's Midnight and Rainbow Chan, with Future Classic DJs and Astral DJs behind the decks.
The three remaining shows will all be held at the Oxford Art Factory, starting with a night curated by Broken Stone Records on June 21st with unannounced headline guests supported by local bands Step-Panther, Palms and Bloods. Rice Is Nice and Popfrenzy Records will be in charge of the show on the 22nd, while the final party will be held a few weeks later, on July 27th, hosted by Modular People. UK electroclashers Klaxons will be spinning some records along with Softwar, Slow-Blow and recent Modular signing Movement.
