  • Mancunian experimentalists Demdike Stare have lined up an early-August visit to the US. The five-show tour comes as Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty have been busy letting loose a series of Test Pressing 12-inches through their home label Modern Love. The first such record, put out in March, was summed up in an RA review as "16 focused minutes of corrosive junglist noise." Whittaker has also turned to his own solo pursuits recently (his Faint Hearted LP dropped in April), while Canty has been collaborating with Andy Votel under the name NeoTantrik. First up for Demdike Stare on their stateside visit is a return to The Bunker in Brooklyn this Friday. Taking place at Output (which looks to be The Bunker's current primary venue—its previous haunt, Public Assembly, is closed for renovations), the event will feature an extended "Dex 'N FX" DJ set from the duo, along with a live performance from Atom TM (AKA Uwe Schmidt) and a set from resident Derek Plaslaiko. The rest of the tour will see the duo play live A/V sets. A two-night, mid-week run through Texas by way of Mango's in Houston and Red 7 in Austin will lead to Los Angeles next Friday, where they'll again link up with Mount Analog for a Nuit Noire party. Shifted, Silent Servant and Pete Swanson will also play sets at that one. Demdike Stare's trek finishes up in Chicago the following night with another show at Empty Bottle, where Duane Pitre, Stave and Karl Meier are also slated to appear. Tickets to The Bunker in Brooklyn and Nuit Noire IV in LA are available on RA. You can check out plenty of the duo's material in full, including the Test Pressing tracks, over at the Modern Love SoundCloud page.
