  • The Four Tet-produced Omar Souleyman album will come out on October 22nd. Initial details of the album trickled through last month, with Four Tet pointing his social media followers to a video clip of him playing one of the LP's tracks at the Lente Kabinet festival in Holland. Now, Ribbon Music have now revealed full details of the release: it has seven tracks and will be called Wenu Wenu. The 43-year-old Syrian artist has been extremely prolific in his career, releasing several hundred recordings of dabke—a type of Arabic folk dance—generally recorded live at weddings. Wenu Wenu is the first album Souleyman has recorded entirely in a studio. It features keyboard work from his long-time collaborator Rizan Sa'id. Speaking through an interpreter to SPIN, he said: "Every year we have to make an album, and this time there was the means to do it in America. Hopefully that will help us get good distribution. The most important thing is that the recording comes out clean and gets good distribution." For an idea of what to expect, check out the colourful album trailer below:
