  • Most Excellent Unltd., a new label out of New York City, is preparing its first release for next month. Paul Raffaele is the mind behind it—you might know him best by way of the now-shuttered event series The Dog & Pony Show that he helped to run, which hosted the likes of Omar-S, DJ Garth and 6th Borough Project. You might also know his collaborative EP with Phil Moffa, Don't Come Back Alive, which came out on Idol Hanse back in April. Describing the new label endeavour in an email to RA, Raffaele says, "The overall ethos is simply putting out most excellent records of all kinds. No genre lines." The first record on Most Excellent Unltd. will be Revolver, an EP from Amsterdam-based Italian MaSpaventi, who has appeared on M>O>S Recordings and the Secretsundaze imprint in recent years. Featuring a remix from UK veteran Mark E and cover art from Duke Aber (a designer for Cartoon Network's popular late-night comedy programming block Adult Swim), the vinyl-only EP will come out early in September. A couple of digital tracks will follow later on in the month. Looking further ahead, Raffaele says NYC mainstay Danny Krivit will be involved in the label's next release, and later in the year, "there will be new parties and DJ mixes starting where The Dog & Pony Show left off."
