  • The first Mountain Oasis Music Summit will take place in Asheville, North Carolina from October 25th through 27th. The festival is a new venture from AC Entertainment, the promotions company that once co-produced the city's Moogfest (and also runs Bonaroo), but which split off from that organization last year in order to throw a different sort of event for the pre-Halloween weekend. (Moogfest will make its return to Asheville in April 2014.) Spread over three days and five venues within walking distance of each other, the new festival has a more mainstream focus, headlined by Nine Inch Nails and EDM heavy-hitters Bassnectar and Pretty Lights. Disclosure, Mount Kimbie and Chromatics are all billed, along with ambient techno pioneers The Orb and How To Dress Well. Among the dance-friendly highlights are Claude VonStroke, Jacques Greene, Rustie, UK house DJ T. Williams and The Bug. Hyperdub's Laurel Halo, Blackest Ever Black duo Raime, Ital and the American premiere of King Britt's Fhloston Paradigm project contribute to the more experimental end of things.
