  • PAN has revealed details of its next release: a 4x12-inch album from Japanese group Marginal Consort. The album consists of a three-hour live set by the band, recorded at Arika's INSTAL '08 festival at The Arches in Glasgow. According to a PAN mailout, the performance incorporated "bamboo, electronics and the contents of a local ironmonger's bin." Marginal Consort is a collective that includes Kazuo Imai, Tomonao Koshikawa, Kei Shii and sound artist Masami Tada, and their arrival on PAN marks the latest chapter for Bill Kouligas's adventurous label. So far in 2013 Kouligas has overseen releases from Rashad Becker, Mohammad and Black Sites (AKA Golden Pudel residents Helena Hauff and f#x). INSTAL. Glasgow 2008 will arrive with liner notes by Arika's Barry Esson and a photo book. For a better idea of what Marginal Consort are about, check the below video of a Kazuo Imai performance (via The Wire). The collective will also play a show at the South London Gallery on Sunday, September 8th. PAN will release INSTAL. Glasgow 2008 on September 6th, 2013.
