- The breaks and drum & bass producer will release his final album as Fanu in December.
Fanu will release his final album on December 2nd.
Finnish producer Janne Hatula has been making breaks-heavy dance music since the early 2000s, with releases on on labels like Subtitles, Ohm Resistance and Commercial Suicide. He also runs his own label, Lightless Recordings, which he'll use for the release of his fifth—and final—album as Fanu. Citing frustration with the inability to earn money off the music he makes as Fanu—as well as trouble getting gigs and dissatisfaction with the current drum & bass scene—he's retiring the alias and reportedly beginning a new project under a different name, presumably working in a different genre as well.
Departure runs the gamut of the Fanu sound, dipping into drumfunk and choppage as well as more downtempo sounds and even some techno. You can stream clips from the album here. It will be released in digital format only.
