Demdike Stare, Tim Hecker and Heatsick will also play the experimental festival in Rio next month.
The contemporary and avant-garde music festival started life in 2011, bringing the likes of Hype Williams, Julianna Barwick and Actress to Rio de Janeiro. This year's event will be the biggest yet, with an opening party and four panel discussions added to the festival's main programme. The latter will return to its home at Oi Futuro in the city's Ipanema district, with sets from Demdike Stare, James Ferraro and Tim Hecker all confirmed. Seasoned experimentalist David Toop, formerly of English rock band The Flying Lizards, will also make an appearance.
Taking place at La Paz Club on Saturday, November 30th, the opening party will carry a strong UK flavour, with Heatsick, Miles (MLZ) and jungle-revisionist Lee Gamble booked to play. All of the artists featured will also take part in one of four panels across December 1st and 2nd, to be held at the POP centre (Polo de Pensamento Contemporañeo). As well as the international names, the festival will help provide a platform for local talent, including São Paulo Underground, Fudisterik and the twisted, synth-heavy sounds of Claudio Szynkier, AKA Babe, Terror.
