  • Pete Swanson will headline Motor IX in Seattle on December 20th. MOTOR is a bi-monthly night started up by Seattle's avant-garde label Debacle Records, focusing on what they call "psych/dance." For some background, Debacle has had releases from acts like Black Hat, Expo '70 and Blue Sabbath Black Cheer, and every year it holds a weekend festival highlighting everything from noise to metal to experimental electronic (in which MOTOR played a part for this year's edition). NYC-based artist Pete Swanson will return to MOTOR for a second time to headline their last event of 2013, which will take place at Capitol Hill's Chop Suey. A former member of influential noise band Yellow Swans, Swanson has found solo success with a sound that combines his more esoteric tendencies with the rhythms of techno. He'll be backed up by residents TJ Max, Chris Davis and DJ Slow. You can check out a good chunk of Swanson material over at his SoundCloud page, and to get a feel for what the MOTOR parties are like, a live set from Chris Davis from their sixth show here.
