- The Chicago-based promoter—one of the biggest in the Midwest—is the latest in a series of prominent acquisitions by Robert F. X. Sillerman's entertainment conglomerate.
SFX Entertainment has continued its electronic music buy-up with the acquisition of Chicago-based promoter React Presents.
The purchase further beefs up SFX's dance music empire: in the past year they've bought German promoter i-Motion, online retailer Beatport and New York's Made Event. React was set up by Lucas King and Jeff Callahan in 2009, and they host events at various spots in Chicago. In the past year they've put on events with commercial artists like Flux Pavilion, Calvin Harris and Fedde Le Grand as well as more underground names like Bonobo and Lapalux.
"React Presents enhances the nationwide network of promoters for SFX and brings two new and highly successful festivals into our U.S. repertoire," says SFX chairman and CEO Robert FX Sillerman. "React Presents is a dominant player in the Midwest, so it was strategically important for us to join forces.
