Sunset Sound System celebrates 20 years

- Solar & Galen will headline their 20th season opener this weekend.
- Sunset Sound System will turn 20 this Sunday, April 6th. Resident Galen founded the party back in 1994 as a daytime counterpart to his Pacific parties. In its original form it was a free event celebrating the spring equinox in at the Berkeley Marina, but over time (and huge growth in popularity), it has shifted locations and frequency, currently at home in Novato's Stafford Lake Park. That's where their 20th anniversary party and 2014 season opener will go down, starting at 11 AM and going until 7 PM. Music will come from Galen and fellow residents and regulars Solar and J-Bird, and the party will move to Monarch nightclub in SF later in the evening for an after-the-park afterparty. There are a handful of other events on the docket including a boat party in May, the Sunset Island festival on Treasure Island in June and the annual Sunset Campout in July, but details for those are still forthcoming. The Sunset crew will also team up with No Way Back for another event the following weekend, this one happening at F8 with headliners Alexander Robotnick and 40 Thieves, plus NWB resident Conor.
