- The singular artist will return with a new album for Planet Mu this June.
The first Venetian Snares album in four years will land on Planet Mu on June 16th.
My Love Is A Bulldozer follows 2010's My So-Called Life, a record brimming with frenetic and confrontational tunes like "Posers And Camera Phones" and "Ultraviolent Junglist." In the time since then Aaron Funk has released two albums away from the Venetian Snares project: Sleep, which was produced under the name Last Step and features acid house lullabies crafted while he was half-asleep, and a collaborative LP as Poemss with Toronto's Joanne Pollock.
Sporting a front sleeve that depicts Funk as a centaur, My Love Is A Bulldozer "meshes together sometimes thunderous yet complex drum programming with delicate musical structures," according to Planet Mu, "creating, in places, a sense of haunted, atmospheric jazziness, as well as spiky autumnal strings recalling the gothic orchestral beauty of his previous work." The record also features Funk singing on several tracks.
This year will see Venetian Snares hit the road for live dates in Europe, Japan, Canada and the US, kicking off in Antwerp on May 22nd and wrapping up in Philadelphia on July 13th.
