  • The first Women's Synth Workshop is taking place this Saturday, May 10th, in New York. The event has been organsied by Ghostly International's Molly Smith. Taking place at The Kitchen—a hive of creative activity in New York for more than 40 years—Smith says the workshop is the first in a series "focused on inspiring women to learn about the technical aspects and ideas behind modular synthesis and experimental electronic music." Some high-profile musicians will be on hand, including including Delia Gonzalez, Liz Wendelbo of Xeno & Oaklander, Lori Napoleon and Alice Cohen. The six-hour event features discussions, lectures and demonstrations, before a series of live performances takes place. The workshop forms part of this year's Vulture Festival. Entrance is free, it's open to men and women, and it runs from midday through 5 PM.
