- The Canadian producer will release his first album through Kinky Beggar in July.
Cameron Reed, AKA Babe Rainbow, will drop his debut LP on July 7th.
Falling Apart was recorded over a busy period in Reed's life, following the release of two EPs of floaty, ambient-leaning music on Warp in 2010 and 2011. He went quiet amid a move from Vancouver to Toronto to work at indie rock mega-label Arts & Crafts, as well as performing in How To Dress Well's touring band and other gigs here and there. This time he's signed to American imprint Kinky Beggar.
Reed calls Falling Apart his "natural state," describing it as "pop melancholy." "We are always falling apart and rebuilding," he adds. "You just try to stay positive and put one foot forward despite the shifting ground, accepting that brought about a sense of contentment. Especially after having a lot of big changes in my life. But it’s also depressing to always be moving, to never feel fully sated. To never be comfortable.” Check out the tongue-in-cheek video for first single "Twin Peaks" below.
