The Vancouver festival has announced the first wave of names for its 2014 instalment in September.
The experimentally-inclined dance music festival has moved around from venue to venue over the years. After two consecutive editions at the Centre For Digital Media, they'll make their biggest transition yet to Science World, a large geodesic dome and youth-oriented science exhibition on the waterfront in Vancouver. The lineup is the usual mélange of house, techno, bass music and more experimental sounds, with Oneohtrix Point Never, Hieroglyphic Being, Arca and Scratcha DVA among the bigger acts.
Making up some of the house highlights are Sex Tags Mania duo DJ Sotofett and DJ Fett Burger, Acido's Dynamo Dreesen and SVN (who will also perform together as Dynamo Dreesn), Uncanny Valley's Jacob Korn and Cuthead plus local rising star Lnrdcroy. Hard Wax's Finn Johannsen, New Kanada's Adam Marshall, Helena Hauff and Rephlex's Bochum Welt are likely to bring more techno and electro-oriented sounds, while Wen, Visionist, Deebs and DJ Earl will hold down the bass-heavy side of things.
Synth pioneer Morton Subotnick, Mexican artist Murcof and Canadian producer (and Opal Tapes member) Cloudface are some other notable inclusions.
