- The duo's first LP promises a mix of dance floor and experimental material.
AnD's debut album, Cosmic Microwave Background, will arrive in October through Electric Deluxe.
The Manchester duo are known for pushing the boundaries of hard-boiled techno, while also occasionally showcasing their more eclectic side. (This year they also released one of the more uncompromising instalments in our podcast series.) To date they've taken their sound to labels like Idle Hands, Horizontal Ground, Black Sun Records, Modal Analysis and their own eponymous imprint, though it's Speedy J's Electric Deluxe that will handle Cosmic Microwave Background.
A series of paintings by AnD provided the inspiration for the album's sleeve. (The paintings were reinterpreted by Electric Deluxe's in-house designer Jan Willem van de Baan.) The LP presents the full range of AnD's sound, with a mix of dance floor cuts and experimental pieces. The full album will come out on CD and double-LP formats. That'll be preceded by a two-track sampler 12-inch, Dark Matter, which lands on September 29th. (The CD version also contains the two tracks featured on Dark Matter: "Cosmic Strings" and "Photon Visibility Function.")
The release date for Cosmic Microwave Background coincides with AnD's appearance at the Electric Deluxe night at this year's Amsterdam Dance Event. The party takes place on Saturday, October 18th, and you can find out full details here.
