  • Stefan Goldmann will release a new album, Industry, on his own label Macro next month, to go along with his first book, Presets — Digital Shortcuts To Sound. Industry looks to be another conceptual LP for the Berlin-based artist, whose work (especially his albums) often dives into the avant-garde. A press release says it was produced with "0% sound design." Sourced only from the presets of "three obsolete 1990s Japanese workstation synths," it has Goldmann relying on "industrial assumptions of where culture will go, but where it chose not to." Industry will be available on CD, vinyl and digital formats. The album's release will coincide with the publishing of PRESETS on The Bookworm, an offshoot of The Tapeworm cassette-only label on which Goldmann's productions have previously appeared. The 200-page book has the German artist exploring the wide world of presets, interviewing the likes of Robert Henke (who's been a key figure in the development of the Ableton Live workstation) and Native Instruments' Mike Daliot along the way.
