  • Dark Disco will put on a show with Evian Christ, Sophie and Nguzunguzu at 88 Palace in New York next Saturday, September 6th. September's event will feature artists who bridge the gap between pop music and experimental electronics: Tri Angle artist Evian Christ, who recently signed a publishing deal with Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music group, and Sophie, who teamed up with fellow producer AG Cook this month for a single on XL Recordings under the name QT. They'll arrive fresh from earlier evening gigs at PS1 Warm Up, and they'll be joined by Fade to Mind mainstays Nguzunguzu, as well as DJs from the local collective The Deep. The event series, which launched in 2009, has hosted a wide swath of headliners from across the hardcore continuum. Organized by Good Peoples and the Brooklyn-based promoter MeanRed—who also program a number of events each month at Output in Williamsburg—Dark Disco tends towards high energy, genre-defiant sets and offbeat venues. The September event will take place at 88 Palace, a two-floor Chinese restaurant that has seen many of New York's most diverse bass music lineups over the last few years.
