  • Amir Alexander will release the Smiley Virus EP under the Jack Ingoff alias on his new imprint Aaacid on October 10th. The Chicago-bred Berlin resident told RA about the impetus for his new label: "I was sitting on a couple albums worth of acid tracks just waiting to find the right home to be released on... it finally dawned on me that I should create an alias/side project/alter ego to address this issue." Alexander will reserve his Guerilla Soul alias for deeper experiments and will halt releases under his given name as he prepares an artist album. In the meantime, Aaacid, Amir's third label, will issue, "...sincere attempts at advancing and adding onto the Acid House [and] Jak Beat templates while staying left of center, and keeping a dark sense of humor in the process." True to form, the Vanguard Sound boss provides a tongue-in-cheek bio on the lasciviously-named alias responsible for the first record: "Now, as for Jack Ingoff I cannot say much. He's a former gangbanging child prodigy and part-time pimp who realized he was livin' fowl and gave up the street life to pursue production full-time. He records with his twin brother Richie Ratchet as "We Love Chicken Heads" and their older sister is also a producer by the name of Betty Ball Breaker." Aaacid 001 will be limited to 222 hand-stamped vinyl copies. Check out "Zombie" off the upcoming EP below.
