  • Dreamcast will host parties with JACK?? and Body High in Vancouver this month. The event first launched in August with a two-room party at Autoform (a luxury car dealership) that featured sets from Djemba Djemba and Mr. Carmack, as well as a full lounge with Sega Dreamcast games and ping pong. Dreamcast was conceived as a way to bring broader event concepts—based around labels and "art movements" instead of just single headliners—to Vancouver. "I used to share a studio with the [ASL Singles Club guys] and was talking about this idea and literally was holding a Sega Dreamcast," says founder Natasha Lands, AKA Cherchez La Femme. "I looked at it and thought 'that's it!' This is the name for the party series because really that's what it is—a dream cast of artists I would to see all play together in Vancouver." Now Lands is preparing two more shows. The first will take place this Saturday with London-based club night JACK??, a concept and crew masterminded by Simon Whybray and loosely operating in the same cute, internet-obsessed sphere as groups like PC Music (check this recent article from Adam Harper for more on JACK?? and their Canadian dates). That one will feature New York artist Maxo, Atlanta's Guy Akimoto, Edmonton's Lilangelboi, KLSLWSK and others, and will take place at a secret location to be announced on the day. The second event is a Halloween shindig going down on October 31st with LA's Body High crew. Happening at Autoform again, this one will be headlined by DJ Dodger Stadium (the collaboration between Samo Sound Boy and Jerome LOL), Myrryrs and Joaquin Bartra. Both parties will have a Sega Dreamcast lounge.
