The new venue will launch at the 2nd Avenue location this weekend.
The new club is called OPEN, and it will launch with an official Time Warp US afterparty this weekend. The announcement comes as Antonio Piacquadio, Ibiza United's managing director, labelled last week's public statement from Sankeys' David Vincent as "false and misleading." After announcing the closure of Sankeys Brooklyn less than one month after it opened, Vincent had said "the [US] franchisee failed to deliver on any of the agreed terms and we soon found ourselves in an untenable position being both unsupported financially and operationally."
Now, Piacquadio has hit back with his own statement, which reads:
"Due to the false and misleading statements by our licensor in their most recent press release and the unsuccessful launch of Sankeys Brooklyn (without our operational or musical input), Ibiza United has decided to sever its ties with the Sankeys organization in the United States.RA has reached out to Sankeys for further comment.
The venue, located at 177 2nd Avenue in Brooklyn, will now be re-branded as OPEN and will do its soft launch this weekend featuring the official Time Warp afterparty from 6 AM to noon on Saturday morning, immediately following the Friday night show at Time Warp.
Following this weekend, OPEN will operate every Friday and Saturday, focusing mainly on booking and featuring fresh new local talent who play and produce proper, forward-thinking music. Additionally, OPEN will feature a state of the art Martin Audio sound system installed by Anthem SSL along with all the other theatrical and musical aspects you expect from an Ibiza United venue. Stay tuned for more announcements."
