Suicideyear's Japan is set for reissue on Software March 10th.
Suicideyear is the production outlet of James Prudhomme. The album-length Japan collection, originally self-released online, caught the ear of Software boss Dan Lopatin, AKA Oneohtrix Point Never. Prudhomme would go on to work with the label on his follow-up LP, Remembrance. On Japan, Prudhomme hit on a formula mixing the Atlanta trap style of producers like Lex Luger with ethereal, shoegaze-influenced synths.
As the original record included several hard-to-clear samples, Suicideyear has reworked several tracks present on the original release. The re-release will be available in the usual formats, but there will also be a CD packaging both Japan and Remembrance, dubbed DREAM 727.
