- The American musician is back on Stones Throw for his fifth album, out in April.
James Pants will release Savage via Stones Throw on April 13th.
The voracious record digger is known for working obscure, private press funk influences into his fanciful pop songs and says Savage was inspired by "Martin Denny flourishes, royalty-free breakbeats, Gary Wilson and (RA favorite) Hamburg's Golden Pudel club." Pants, who has taken four years since the release of his 2011, self-titled effort, says he picked the 14 songs on Savage from a group of over 100 new tracks. He also notes he's been honing his skills as a webmaster in the meantime.
