  • The Godfather of Good Times, DJ Sir Norman Jay is driving his legendary Good Times Sound System into Australia this February. For the past 21 years, Good Times has been the Mecca of the Notting Hill Carnival (UK) – second largest street festival in the world. Now this incredible institution, engineered by Norman Jay and his brother Joey, is coming to Oz to join the largest street festival in the southern hemisphere – St Kilda Festival (Sat 9th Feb). Good Times’ Australian debut will feature two stages of live entertainment, showcasing two international acts – Norman Jay and Gilles Peterson - supported by local talents overlooking the beach from the St Kilda Sea Baths car park – truly bringing Norman Jay’s Good Times mix of rare groove, disco, funk, jazz, hip hop and house back to the streets, where it belongs. In 2001 Jay became the first DJ to be awarded an MBE for services to the music industry in the Queen’s birthday honors. He joins Gilles Peterson on the bill who is famed for his bi-annual albums and BBC Radio One show ‘Worldwide’, which began 20 years ago and is now broadcast in 15 countries as far reaching as New Zealand, Croatia, Nigeria, the US and Cyprus. These two brilliant DJ icons of the UK scene are supported by the following locals: Southcoast, J’nett, Dean Halcombe vs Paul Main, Peril, Grant Smillie, Anthony Larr vs Matt Wilko, Andrea Cato, Arty, Tim Paterson, Quentin vs Delmo, Jarrod Moran vs Luke Bowditch, Pip D’Aloia vs Matt Keleher, The Brat Pack, Luke D’Angelo vs Dallas. Presale tickets $30 from Ticketek 132 849 and regular retail outlets – or $50 on the door.
