  • Juan Atkins has announced the cancellation of his Model 500 show at Unsound Adelaide this weekend. An statement made by Unsound Adelaide organisers reads: "Due to life threatening health issues, Juan Atkins of Model 500 is unable to travel to Australia for Unsound Adelaide on Saturday 14 March, 2015. We are sure that fans everywhere will join us in wishing Juan and his family all the best during this very difficult time." As Atkins himself explained: "I've been battling health issues over the past few months which now prevent me from traveling. I'm working to have those issues resolved in the next few months. I'm gutted that I can't come over to Australia, but I hope to return in the near future." While his last Australian tour went ahead hitch-free in January 2014, the previous scheduled visit in 2013 was also postponed at a late stage due to health complications. Refunds will be available to ticket holders from their point of purchase, while organisers are working on a replacement act. According to a second statement, Atkins revealed that he fell ill on a flight from Detroit to Frankfurt on February 27th. That statement says that the health issue stemmed from a "total kidney failure caused by diabetes." Atkins is not the only artist to pull out of Unsound Adelaide, which takes place at Freemasons Hall from March 12th to 14th as part of Adelaide Festival, with Vatican Shadow and Evian Christ also being removed from the bill over the past month. Substitute artists include Dopplereffekt, Roll Deep's Magna and Elizabeth Bernholz performing as Gazelle Twin.
