The club will relocate to the iconic inner-west venue next month.
Reckless Republic have announced that Spice will be taking over Sydney's Imperial Hotel from late April.
Plans for the club to move from its current location, The Spice Cellar at Martin Place in the city's CBD, emerged last month. The Imperial Hotel, situated in Erskineville in Sydney's inner-west, is a LGBTIQ community icon and has been used more by club music promoters over the past 12 months due to its location outside the lockout zone and its 24-hour license.
The hotel's three rooms will be revamped, with downstairs becoming "The Basement Club," new home of The Spice Cellar Erskineville. The ground floor's back room is being rebranded as "The Lounge," set to feature live entertainment. As co-owner Murat Kilic explains: "We are excited about the opportunity the Imperial Hotel Erskineville gives us to expand the relevance of the space in the area for the neighborhood, in particular for the LGBTIQ community for whom the building holds great importance."
A number of events have already been announced for The Spice Cellar Erskineville. Alex Niggemann will be spinning on April 18th, Phil Smart will head up an ANZAC Day party on the 25th, and Kyle Hall and Steve Bug will be headlining on May 23rd and 30th respectively. Andras Fox will also be heading up from Melbourne on June 6th for a live performance.
