  • Drum Machine Circle will host its fourth event in Bushwick. The concept for the event series is simple: round robin-style sessions of short drum machine sets traded off in a circle. "Round one focuses on individual performance with ten minute solo slots, followed by a five minute dovetail with the next performer," says event organizer Peter Fonda, who also produces, performs and DJs under the name bbodyworkk. "Round two occurs in five minute segments with a new performer joining every five. Drum Machine Circle ends with a 30-minute free-for-all." For the purposes of this series the definition of drum machine is loose. Rather than banning samplers, loopers, synthesizers, laptops, microphones or turntables, for instance, Fonda simply encourages performers to focus on "percussive, rhythmic audio as opposed to tonal or melodic material." The lineup for the fourth event includes Bossa Nova resident and Discwoman affiliate UMFANG, as well as Shadowbox, whose live set for Boiler Room you can listen to below. Sadaf, David Kiss, Beta Librae and Fonda himself will round out the bill at Shea Stadium, and the event goes from 8 PM to midnight.
