  • Hauschka has a new live album, 2.11.14, due out later this month. The German prepared piano artist, real name Volker Bertelmann, recorded the album late last year on the Japanese island of Kyushu in the remote town of Yufuin's Artegio music museum. It's made up of two improvisations, each extending just beyond the 20 minute mark. A press release describes 2.11.14 as "a captivating, energetic stream of consciousness set to music, in parts akin to a DJ/live dance music set." The performance was roughly based on his last studio LP, 2014's Abandoned City. The press release for 2.11.14 concludes with this note from Bertelmann himself. He says "It [was] a great experience to drive for several hours to a remote and modest place in the mountains of Kyushu, only to find the ideal setting to record a piece of music so touching yet rough and spontaneous." Tracklist A Part 1 B Part 2 City Slang will release 2.11.14 on June 22nd, 2015.
