  • Derrick May and Francesco Tristano will perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on Frida, August 14th at the Chene Park amphitheater. The Belleville Three member's biggest hit, "Strings Of Life," mixes ornate string arrangements with propulsive Detroit techno, making May's music ideal for the full classical treatment. The pianist Francesco Tristano will join May this Friday (he released a cover version of "Strings Of Life" back in 2006). This will be May's first performance with the DSO, though he performed with the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra last summer. You can check out a clip from that show below. Fellow Detroit innovator Jeff Mills has his own orchestral moment with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in October.
