  • Robert Henke will stage his Lumière II A/V show at Gray Area Foundation For The Arts on October 15th. For the Lumière performance, Henke, who was pivotal in the development of Ableton, works with high-resolution laser visuals and multi-channel audio. Henke sought to create a framework in which he is able to improvise with lasers the same way he works with sound. He uses a Novation Launchpad which links the visuals to audio output for a rather impressive final result. The two shows on the 15th are now sold out but Henke, along with the show's sponsors, LaserAnimation Sollinger, Berlin Gray Area, Heron Arts and Recombinant Media Labs, are considering adding another the next day. This will be the first Lumière II performance on the West Coast. Henke recently announced a new Monolake EP and served as a guest lecturer for a CalArts-related course on Ableton Live .
