  • Tied, a party collective based in Chicago, is starting its own label. Active for almost three years now and headed by Max Jacobson, Mantas Steles and Ari Frank, Tied is a regular fixture in Chicago's underground, with events featuring out-of-towners like D'Julz, Virginia, DeWalta and Masomenos. Their next move is the Tied label, which begins with a vinyl-only release from Memo Boys, AKA Topper (a previous party guest), Andrea Ferlin and RG. Those artists are all part of the Berlin-based Sleep Is Commercial label crew (Ferlin is one of its co-founders), and further Memo Boys releases will feature other artists from what Topper calls the "SiC-Turkish connection." This Memo Boys EP contains two original cuts and a remix from Martinez. It's due to land on October 16th. On the eve of its release, Thursday the 15th, the Tied trio will celebrate the label's launch with an early-evening session at Gramaphone Records. They'll take turns on the decks, and "maybe a surprise performance" is in the works. Discounted copies of Memo Boys will be available, along with free beer and pizza, while it lasts; the shop will also have a half-off sale on all its used records. Stream samples from the EP below.
